From that point of view it seems like fanciness is actually about availability specifically where something lands on the spectrum between easily available versus impossible to access.
There could be no fanciness — no gaudy calendars or lace pillows or knickknacks — but everything in the house must be plain and dark and indicative of work and the real true purpose.
I'm not saying here that we need to throw out all of our perceptions of fanciness but instead what I'm suggesting is that maybe we think of fanciness as a synonym for special.
And I guess what I'm getting at here is that when you strip away all of these artificial ideas and perceptions of what fanciness is guess we come down and realize that anyone can cook it.
