The daughter of the Russian ultra-nationalist Alexander Dugin who's a vocal supporter of the war on Ukraine has been killed by a car bomb outside Moscow.
In most ways the afflicted region epitomises the collapse of authority: extremists control roads and markets; the government is powerless outside the capital; outsiders provide what little assistance exists.
The investigation is ongoing, but we know that the killer was an angry and disturbed individual who took in extremist information and propaganda over the internet, and became radicalized.
