Hi everyone. In this video we're going to look at this sound: /ɔɪ/.
It's in words like "toy" and "coin".
This is a diphthong which means it's a combination of two vowel sounds in the one syllable.
This one consists of the /ɔː/ sound and the /ɪ/ sound, although some people make it into an /iː/ sound.
So we start at /ɔː/ and then we move to the /ɪ/ or /iː/ position.
So first our mouths are rounded /ɔː/, and then we move to an unrounded position: /ɔɪ/ /ɔɪ/.
Repeat it after me: /ɔɪ/ /ɔɪ/.
Here are some words with this sound: lawyer, employer, annoy, noise.
And now a sentence: The lawyer's employer was annoyed by the noise.
Thanks very much for watching, guys.
