Hi. So, we're looking at ways to help you prepare for the speaking part two tasks. This was the example that we were looking at.
And in the last video, we looked at how to get ideas, how to brainstorm ideas, choose them and answer the question with why these developments happened. So, we brainstormed all of these ideas.
We chose some and we looked at the why and that's a very simple strategy to follow. Of course, in the exam or your practice time, you'll just choose one example or one idea to develop.
Next, we're going to look at the trigger and the words and phrases we need to answer this question well. So the trigger, as I mentioned before, is just when you look at the question, as soon as you see some words, you know straight away what you should say and what you shouldn't say.
So the trigger with this question, for example, describe a recent development in your city. It's talking about city, not countryside, so make sure you talk about a city development, not a countryside development.
In essence, the trigger here is it's talking about a change. So a change means something now is different from the past.
So, you'll be comparing the past with the present. It's a recent development, it's a change, so you need to compare the past with the present and evaluates the change.
Is it good or bad, especially because most IELTS questions ask you: How you feel about it? Okay? So, that's the trigger with this question.
It's basically, it's a change, a development, a recent development, it's a change. You'll compare the past with the present and evaluate the change.
And what tenses will you use? Well, when it comes to grammar, you'll probably start with the present perfect.
