I think in the past we often think of global health as something that happens to people over there on another continent.

Global health went local in 2020 because as this pandemic moved across the globe, we all felt it though in our communities.

What we're seeing locally in the spread of disease locally,we also are seeing globally.

We know that diseases,no matter where they exist in the world, the people they affect the most are the people who are on the edges and on the margins of society.

Quite often the high income part of a country will do quite well, but the people who are middle or truly low income still deal with that disease on an ongoing basis.

So many things that have not been visible to us before, like women's unpaid work, is completely in our face right now, and so this is our time for us to address this unpaid labor that women do in their homes every day and that our economies are built on the backs of.

We really need to look at our caregiving infrastructure.

We value families and we value work.

We just need to live out our values and build what we care about.

If you have women at the center of the response, we're gonna build our economies back in the right way and in a sustainable way that we'll be proud of and that will help us through the next 50 years.
