3月10日，埃塞俄比亚航空一架波音737MAX 8客机坠毁，机上有149名乘客和8名机组成员(149 passengers and eight crew members)。

飞机于当地时间8点38分在埃塞俄比亚首都亚的斯亚贝巴起飞，起飞后6分钟即坠毁(crashed just six minutes into its journey)，机上没有生还者(leaving no survivors)。

埃塞俄比亚航空官方公布，失事飞机上有8名中国人。

此后,埃塞俄比亚总理办公室已在其官方推特上对遇难者家属表示哀悼(offering condolences)。

波音公司对此表示，“已经获悉飞机事故的报道，并正在密切监控有关情况。”

据BBC报道，有目击者称“爆炸和火太猛烈了，我们都不能靠近(the blast and the fire were so strong that we couldn’t get near it)，所有东西都被烧毁了。”

截至目前，国内航空公司共运营有96架737 MAX 8机型。

按照中国民航局通知，11日已暂停波音737 MAX 8飞机的航班运行(ordered local airlines to ground Boeing 737 Max 8 flights)。

这已经是波音737MAX 8半年内出现的第二起严重事故(a second deadly crash)。

去年10月29日，印尼狮航(Lion Air)一架由雅加达飞往邦加槟港的客机在起飞13分钟后坠毁(went down 13 minutes after take off)，共造成189人死亡(killing all 189 people on board)。

据悉，这次失事飞机上还包括至少19名联合国工作人员(at least 19 victims were affiliated with the United Nations)。

很多乘客都准备参加本周在内罗毕举行的第四届联合国环境大会(the UN Environment Assembly)。

受此事件影响，3月11日，波音在德国法兰克福上市的股票价格大跌近8%。

When an airplane carrying at least 150 people crashed in Ethiopia on Sunday, killing all aboard, it was the second time in less than six months that this particular plane model was involved in a catastrophic accident.
