Hi there, it's Asiya. And today I have another video about IELTS reading question types.

This time I've analyzed multiple-choice questions and I'm gonna present my five-step strategy that will help you to answer more questions correctly. I've also discovered one trap that is commonly used in IELTS and that causes a lot of mistakes but I'm gonna tell you what it is and how to avoid it.

My videos about other IELTS reading question types such as True False Not given and matching headings are linked in the description box below. And now let's get started.

First of all, let me show you how these questions look. These are multiple-choice questions, choose the correct letter a b c d, and as you can see you have a question and then four options and you need to choose one correct option.

Sometimes you are presented with seven options and you need to choose two correct options. When you see these questions, and the first step is to quickly read all multiple choice questions and highlight keywords.

Let's have a look at our three questions. In paragraph 1, the writer suggests that companies could consider, so the keywords are in paragraph 1, they will help us to allocate the answer.

Question 2, skill team is an example of a company which, the keywords are skill team. Question 3, according to the writer, bridge jobs, the keywords are bridge jobs.

So the keywords will help me to locate the answers, that's all I need for now. The second step is just something you need to know, multiple-choice questions typically come in order.

It means you can read the first question, start reading the passage until you find the answer then you read the next question, you resume reading the text until you find an answer, and so on. Many questions in IELTS reading actually come in order, but some don't.

And if you know which do and which don't, it's a huge time saver. I have a separate video about them and all the videos I've mentioned are gonna be linked in the description.
