- What's the climate impact of these 500-horsepower race cars?

(cars revving) Zero.

(upbeat music playing) Extreme E is an international off-road racing series, which features 500+ horsepower or 400 kilowatt electric SUVs that can rocket from zero to 62 miles per hour in 4.5 seconds.

(cars revving) (upbeat music playing) The vehicles use hydrogen fuel cell technology and are able to be charged off the grid using water and solar energy.

The off-grid capability is paramount,considering Extreme E's races are held in deserts, (upbeat music playing) in shoreline ecosystems,(upbeat music playing) and in remote areas of the Arctic that have already been affected by climate change.

Now,the Extreme E series is partnering with Count Us In for the Extreme E Count Us In Challenge.

The challenge is using the excitement of racing to inspire fans to take steps to mitigate climate change.

Fans are urged to take one of 16 steps to lower their carbon footprint, such as choosing to drive an electric vehicle,(upbeat music playing) flying less,(upbeat music playing) or eating more sustainably.
