The authors of the APA study found that asking participants to recall situations when they fell in control helped to ameliorate their sense of loss of control.
The APA also reported that there is evidence to suggest that typical polygraph examinations detect deception better than chance, but with error rates that can result in failing to detect guilty people.
So there's a bit of an inconsistency here to say that the remedies that respondent favors are all encoded in the APA and the remedies that they disfavored aren't.
