We've developed a linear actuator that provides haptic feedback to complement your interactions.

We have lost electrical power to some of the flight control actuators. Request delay our descent to perform checklist.

So here's a couple thousand or so actuators, and all I'm doing is applying a voltage, and they all wave, looking like nothing more than the legs of a future robot army.

You could use this super cheap programmable computer and maybe you put a sensor in it, and maybe you make you know another actuator, and then you make something happen in the real world.

Pen itself has a micro actuator inside, so you get subtle friction as you write, and the display is fused with optical bonding so the ink flows out from the very tip of your pen.

So the first phase for us was to focus on performance of electric motors or actuators, and try to get them up to par with what you see with a lot of hydraulic systems.

The lamp itself is equipped with several actuators so that it can rotate and move its arm to where light is needed.

Then your actuator is flexible enough to bend to these small sizes without breaking, and it can use the forces that come about from just attaching or removing a single layer of atoms.

If you want legs for your tiny robot, you need actuators, parts that move.

When I do, you can see the actuator respond by curling up.

We've got the smarts and the actuators.

Well, the actuator is made from a layer of platinum just a dozen atoms or so thick.

This is one of our actuators, and I'm applying a voltage to it.

Sturgeon placed a linear actuator in the beast's stomach.

And we put little actuators that push back against it and cancel it.

So if we could build soft actuators, or artificial muscles, that are as versatile, adaptable and could have the same performance as the real thing, we could build almost any type of robot for almost any type of use.

One feature of the extra performance wing as it is called is that instead of having moving surfaces attached to the wing with hinges mechanical actuators will change the shape of a semi flexible surface on the trailing edge.

Okay, now all I do is hit this stairs button, and when I do that, a set of tracks which are connected to the wheels via a chain drive are lowered into place by a linear actuator.

These generate power and send it to a control board that operates a pair of piezoelectric actuators – clever materials that work a bit like a muscle and contract when a voltage passes across them.

For instance, OWO Game, a Spanish firm, is about to put on sale a haptic vest, worn next to the skin, that relies on electrical stimulation rather than vibrating actuators.
