Having a conversation with another male social worker helped me to understand, like, just the broadness of the field and the spaces that we can go into.
It is actually an instrument of the African diaspora, if you want to say African-American in terms of the broadness of South America all the way up to North America and the Caribbean in between.
And even some who fall under the term, Asian American, or the broader AAPI, which includes Pacific Islanders, feel that it may not fit them, or that the broadness of the category means that experiences get erased.
