Objective: To explore the effect of cholecystokinin on electricity activity of gastric distention related neurons in the nucleus of tractus solitarius.
My understanding is that GLP-1 acts at the level of the brain, the hypothalamus to reduce hunger, but also at the level of the gut to give the sensation of more gastric distention.
One common manifestation of this is jugular venous distention, where the jugular vein that brings blood back to the heart takes on more blood and becomes enlarged and distended in the neck.
