One day Buddha sat in the Thunderclap Monastery in the Western Paradise. He was talking to his students.

有一天，如来坐在西天雷音寺中和子交谈。

Buddha smiled at Wukong. " How did you get so powerful" ?

如来笑着对悟空说。" 你怎么能这么厉害？"

" I'll write a note on this pillar. Buddha can come here and check" .

" 我就在这柱子上写句话吧！如来可以自己来确认。"

After a long time, he landed on Buddha's palm again.

过了好长时间，回到了如来手掌里。

" There, " said Wukong. " Now I'll go and tell Buddha how far I jumped" .

" 好了！" 悟空说，" 现在我就回去告诉如来我跳了多远。"

" I am Buddha, " said the figure. " Who are you, and why are you causing all this trouble" ?

" 我是如来佛祖。" 那人说，" 你是谁，为何惹出这些麻烦？"

" Buddha put me here, " said Wukong. " I am being punished for causing trouble in Heaven. Who are you" ?

" 如来佛祖把我压在这里。" 悟空说，" 因为我大闹天宫受了罚。你是谁？"

Buddha turned to the Jade Emperor.

如来转身对着玉帝。

Smiling, the Buddha declared he would grant that wish— if Sun Wukong could somersault out of his palm.

如来佛祖微微一笑，宣称只要孙悟空能翻出手掌心，就满足愿。

Returning to the Buddha, he demanded his new title— but he was distracted by a familiar odor.

孙悟空回到如来佛祖面前，要求赐予新头衔——却被一股熟悉气味分了心。

Buddha pulled a small sheet of magic paper from his sleeve. He laid the paper on top of the mountain.

如来从衣袖中拿出了一张符咒，贴在了山顶上。

It seemed that only the greatest power in the world could defeat the Monkey King — it was time for Buddha himself to intervene.

看来只有世界上最强大力量才能打败美猴王——是时候由如来佛祖亲自干预了！

当时， 因为不专心听如来讲解，被如来怒气中降到了人间。

" We must ask Buddha for help, " he said. He turned to a messenger. " Go to the Western Paradise quickly. See if Buddha can come to help us" .

" 我们必须请如来佛祖来帮忙。" 说。转向一个信使：" 速去西天。看看如来佛祖能不能过来帮助我们。"

Buddha shook his head. " No, " he said. " A true believer—a monk—needs to come here to get them. Will anyone go to the east to find a worthy monk" ?

如来摇摇头。" 不可。" 说，" 需要真正信徒来这里取回这些真经才可以。有人愿意去东土找一位有资格来取经僧人吗？"

" This must be the end of the world, " he said to himself. " I'll go back now and tell Buddha to take the Jade Emperor away. Heaven is mine" !

" 这一定就是天边了。" 对自己说，" 我现在就回去告诉如来，让那玉帝让位。这天庭是我了！"
