It was an allied victory over the forces of Japan, even though the USS Lexington eventually sank after being hit by a bombardment of Japanese torpedoes.
Here it's made in less than an hour, but on the Moon, it is the result of more than four billion years of bombardment, by meteorites and micro meteorites, raining in on the surface and breaking up the rock.
The built-up has been going on for quite a while, but as far as we know not much of that actually happened in terms of offensive presumed they will do some kind of softening-out bombardment.
