Just then, leaning over the forecastle railing, I saw Ned Land below me, one hand grasping the martingale, the other brandishing his dreadful harpoon.

Once aboard, the two prisoners hoisted in the boat and under Wolf Larsen's direction carried the wounded boat-steerer down into the forecastle.

When it was an English boat, they would dodge into the forecastle and get a hearty breakfast from the crew.

" The black vomit wrench thee! —run all of ye above, alow, cabin, forecastle—find him—not gone—not gone! "

Had you descended from the Pequod's try-works to the Pequod's forecastle, where the off duty watch were sleeping, for one single moment you would have almost thought you were standing in some illuminated shrine of canonized kings and counsellors.

On the forecastle was mounted the latest model breech-loading cannon, very heavy of barrel and narrow of bore, a weapon that would figure in the Universal Exhibition of 1867.

Our forecastle cannon was immediately loaded and leveled. The cannoneer fired a shot, but his shell passed some feet above the cetacean, which stayed half a mile off.

I saw him pass into the forecastle, and in about an hour followed him.

Captain Deblois immediately descended into the forecastle, and there, to his horror, discovered that the monster had struck the ship two feet from the keel, abreast the foremast, knocking a great hole entirely through her bottom.

They were awed by what they had already seen of Wolf Larson's character, while the tale of woe they spedily heard in the forecastle took the last bit of rebellion out of them.

" I cannot see Drogon, " said Ser Jorah Mormont as he joined her on the forecastle. " Is he lost again" ?

I was leaning on the hatchway near the forecastle, full of desponding thoughts, when a sailor in a kind voice asked me why I was so down-hearted.

If I could only get into the forecastle while his watch was off, and the other sailors asleep, the thing could be accomplished.
