It means that a successful mutated line of rotifers will not be diluted by the genetic mixing caused by sexual congress.

So this little rotifer shows us something really amazing.

Bdelloid rotifers, meanwhile, have been reproducing parthenogenetically for 60 million years.

If you wanna get small, there's rotifers and other kinds of...protozoans.

They can be found all over the world, but you could have all the bdelloid rotifer experts in the world to dinner and not have to borrow plates from the neighbors.

Above the size of L rotifers, however, farmers switch phylum and feed their charges crustaceans called brine shrimps, the smallest of which clock in at 400 microns.

For the smallest fry these are often rotifers, a phylum of tiny animals discovered in the late 17th century by early microscopists.

You remember the rotifer we just met?

Just a reminder, rotifers have a simple brain and a simple nervous system.

And we heard from a Guardian reader here in Canada who made a passionate pitch for the underrated Deloitte rotifer.

Paul McEuen: So this little rotifer shows us something really amazing.

Paul McEuen：

That's why we are going to study proteins that help rotifers to survive in those conditions.

But there are other fierce predators like rotifers or arthropods in the  depths, hunting immortal microbes.

While it was stuck to Heliozoa's axopodia, this rotifer actually lays its egg.

It's a microscopic worm called a rotifer that was brought back to life after spending about 25,000 years locked in the arctic permafrost.

So, the previous record for frozen rotifers was a decade or so.

But neither egg nor the rotifer is going to escape this.

Rotifers are better—or at least more interesting—because they're multicellular animals, with a head and a body, that can eat, crawl around and make more rotifers.

In this video, a rotifer has been captured by a Heliozoa and it is slowly getting eaten by it.

First Paradileptus immobilizes the rotifer with fired toxicysts and the animal is swallowed by the single-celled organism as it swims away.
