Even the word coin, translates from the Latin "cuneus," meaning wedge, and was thusly named because early coins ressembled the wedges the dies used to coin coins.
But, I mean it... looking back, I don't think I would have done well in the court of Elizabeth I. I don't know the Elizabethan dances, I don't speak Latin, I don't go to church. Rhyming couplets are not my strong suit.
So for most string-processing operations, for English, French, German, Spanish, and really any language using a Latin-derived script, you'll see about a three-and-a-half times performance improvement for String.
