The naming was announced at a symposium held on Monday to commemorate Fan's 60 years of dedicated efforts to the cultural relics protection in Dunhuang.
" Dunhuang has put me where I am, and without Dunhuang, I would not be here today, " said Fan, who is currently serving as honorary president of Dunhuang Academy.
" We were deeply impressed by the gorgeous color and images of the Dunhuang murals, as well as the exhibited artworks of different dynasties in China's museums."
The podcast " Why We Love Dunhuang" explains why the ancient city has attracted visitors from around the world, mostly to its UNESCO World Heritage site, the Mogao Grottoes.
One of the animation's highlights is a magnificent dance that is inspired by the Flying Apsaras images in Dunhuang Grottoes and ancient Chinese poet Cao Zhi's poem " The Ode to the Goddess of the River Luo."
