Indian officials say some parts of Kerala received more than twice the amount of rainfall that they usually do, and that's caused the worst flooding the state has seen in almost a century.
That's five times what this region normally gets in the entire month of March and another two to four inches of rainfall was possible by Tuesday night.
In the case of Darwin, the largest city up here on Australia's northern coast, the average annual rainfall amount is more than 1,800 millimeters which is nearly triple the amount of rainfall that London gets.
The weather event was among other reasons that would bring an " 80 percent chance of above average rainfall for many parts of the eastern half of Australia, " the bureau said in a statement.
That was the case in 2017, when Hurricane Harvey dumped more than 60 inches of rain in southeastern Texas, the highest rainfall total from a hurricane in U.S. history.
This result from multiple factors including stronger winds generated by cold fronts, higher temperatures and poor vegetation coverage in the southern parts of Mongolia and northern China due to lower precipitation.
The weather station at the Burbank Airport measured 4.6 inches of rain on Friday, which wasn't just a record for the day, but it was actually its fifth-wettest day ever.
