I've had successful experiences with homeopathic medicine in the past, but this time I had a serious, long-term illness that was dependent on conventional treatment.
Homeopathy has no scientific basis but its main principle is that " like cures like" , that is when a lot of something causes a symptom, a small amount of that same thing can cure the symptoms.
Then, convinced blood pressure meds made her feel worse, she saw a homeopath and switched to alternative treatments, like drinking water purified by crystals. The result: kidney failure.
But despite all this, many studies have shown that homeopathy has no therapeutic effect, and homeopathic treatments often perform no better than placebos.
Over the following 300 years, numerous physicians and patients turned to homeopathy, and entire hospitals were built to focus on homeopathic treatments.
The reason I want to point out the placebo effect is because in this map I'm not covering treatments that fall outside of evidence-based medicine like acupuncture, homeopathy or chiropractics.
