Some four thousand firefighters are battling the flames. More than two hundred people are still missing after the blaze swept through the town of Paradise, destroying thousands of homes.

Hamas said the Israeli undercover team had infiltrated Gaza near Khan Yunis in a civilian car to target the commander who was killed. The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is cutting short a visit to France. Tom Bateman is in Jerusalem.

Health officials in Gaza said six Palestinians have been killed, including the militant commander. Sirens warning of rocket fire from Gaza have been sounding in nearby Israeli towns with several rockets shot down by anti-missile batteries.

The exposure of such a reported operation by Israeli forces inside Gaza would be extremely rare and comes after apparent progress in an Egyptian-and UN-brokered process to mediate after a series of escalations between the two sides in recent months.

The United States and Britain are ramping up pressure on Saudi Arabia to bring justice to the killers of the Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who was murdered inside his country's consulate in Istanbul last month.

The US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo has told the de facto Saudi leader Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman Washington would hold everyone involved accountable.

The British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt is traveling to Saudi Arabia as James Landale reports. Over the weekend, Turkey revealed it had shared audio tapes relating to the case with allies including Britain.
