Hi, this is Matt Baker.

Today I'm going to show you the complete family tree of Roman emperors, all the way from Caesar Augustus in 27 BCE to the fall of Constantinople in 1453.

For parts one and two, I'll be using our Roman emperor's family tree poster, which covers the principet, the dominant, and the subsequent Eastern emperors up until the year 800.

I'll then switch to our European royal family tree, north slash east chart, to cover the remaining eastern emperors to 1453.

If you want to get a copy of either poster or both, just head over to our website, usefulcharts.com, or click the link in the description or pinned comment.

We've got 158 emperors and 3 reigning empresses to go through.

So let's get to it.

In the final days of the Roman Republic.

There were two powerful generals who dominated the scene.

Julius Caesar and Pompey the Great, together with a 3rd general named Crassus, they had an unofficial power sharing arrangement, often referred to as the 1st triumvirate.
