However, many more mysteries still surround the famous painting.

The Mona Lisa is the portrait of a woman from Florence, Italy, painted by Leonardo da Vinci between 1503 and 1506.

Despite knowing this information, art historians have no idea whom Mona Lisa was.

She is suspected to have been Lisa, the wife of a rich Florentine, Francesco del Giocondo.
