They say that "History is written by the victors,"  meaning there is much misinformation about the past.

Everybody loves a good story, and so  many historical misconceptions slip through the net that many urban legends become  commonly accepted historical facts.

So, how good are you at sorting fact from fiction?

Napoleon was short.

Rumors about Napoleon's diminutive stature  were rife even during his lifetime.

Many cite his nickname "Le Petit Caporal" – meaning  "The Little Corporal" – to reflect Napoleon's height.

However, this had nothing to do  with how tall he was.

In fact, it was an affectionate term given to him by his soldiers.
