Melanie Stetson Freeman: For the first three and a half months of 2021, I went nowhere, at least not on long and faraway trips that have been my routine for decades.

But when I did travel again, it wasn't like before.

It was better.

I guess that's what being cooped up at home will do we realize what we've missed what's important.

Being out on assignment, again, was exotic and exciting.

It was comforting to see the world still working.

Alfredo Sosa: At the beginning of this year, I feel for sure this is the year when we get back to normal.

But now when I look back, in hindsight, I realize this was a year of flexing, growing, the pandemic brought many challenges to us, we had to redefine from the most basic of human interactions to even the office.

Ann Hermes: In my work over the last year, I've seen the persistence of life in the strangest of places, hovering above the city of Albuquerque, at a popcorn stand on the banks of a river.

And these assignments have helped me to remember how ready life is to return, even if it looks a little different than it was before.
